Project Snip & Clip is a humane way to reduce feline populations over time by sterilizing felines, thus eliminating breeding and unwanted future litters. Sterilization also directly benefits the health of stray and feral cats. Once sterilized, animals no longer face the stresses and dangers of mating and pregnancy that expose animals to disease, injury, suffering and even death. In addition, sterilization prevents development of certain cancers and results in diminished roaming, fighting and scavenging behaviors.
“FMAR’s program has been very successful in Van Buren Township in the past,” said Bob Thorne, Trustee of the Van Buren Civic Fund’s Board. “It is a compassionate program that is directly benefiting our community.”
Project Snip & Clip identifies communities within Van Buren Township that have a feral cat problem via phone calls from the community, information from concerned individuals and volunteers.
