Members of the Van Buren Civic Fund (VBCF) Board of Directors awarded grant funds for the Belleville Area Museum and Van Buren Township at its most recent meeting. The Museum will purchase a scanner and audiovisual recording device and the Township received funding to complete the wrought iron fencing at Tyler Cemetery.
“We are proud of the work we’ve been able to help with in the community,” said Craig Atchinson, President of the VBCF. “Preserving our community history and contributing to the aesthetic of Tyler Cemetery builds on our decade-long mission of improving the quality of life for residents of Van Buren Township.”
“The Belleville Area Museum has undergone a wonderful transformation due in large part to the assistance of the Van Buren Civic Fund,” said Katie Dallos, Director of the Belleville Area Museum. “Our archives, once housed in a leaky basement, are now protected in the former Van Buren Fire Hall and housed in the proper storage materials, which will allow the museum and historical society to maintain the collection for future generations. We are truly thankful.”
The VBCF works assist in reducing the burden upon the Van Buren Township government through financial support for high quality services and capital improvements which benefit the citizens of the Township.
