A $6,450 grant from the Van Buren Civic Fund has made it possible for the Belleville Area District Library to buy two Early Literacy Stations from AWE Learning.
The workstations are specifically designed for children ages 2–8 and contain 70 different software programs and games that encourage exploration in reading, math, science, social studies, writing, arts and music. The touch-screens, color-coded keyboards, and mice that fit easily into tiny hands are designed with young children in mind.
The workstations replace two heavily used seven-year-old computers. The library also has four filtered Internet computers available for children. The library is at 167 Fourth St. in Belleville.
